Meet our Team

Today we chatted with Tom, Technical Audit Manager at Marlin Spring Developments to learn about his unique role and how he and his team collaborate with other teams to ensure the company is operating and delivering the best product to market. Read the interview below to get to know Tom and learn more about his achievements and aspirations.

Hi Tom! Talk to us about your role and your team. What are you responsible for and how do you collaborate with other teams? What do you enjoy most about your role?

At Marlin Spring Developments my role is Technical Audit Manager, my main responsibilities circulate around completion of Tarion Performance Audits.  This Audit is conducted 1 and 2 years after condominium registration of all our high-rise projects. Completing the Performance audit require a keen eye for detail and the ability to coordinate with various experts, such as trade partners, architects, and engineers.

It's rewarding to be able to identify issues, assess their impact on the building’s performance, and then work collaboratively with different experts to find solutions.

I also appreciate the fact that my role involves both hands-on problem-solving and strategic planning, ensuring that issues are addressed not just immediately, but in a way that promotes long-term building quality. Seeing the tangible improvements we can make to a project—whether it's a small adjustment or a larger fix—is really satisfying.

Additionally, conducting the Tarion Performance Audits gives me a chance to continuously learn and grow, as I encounter new challenges with each project. The variety of tasks keeps the role dynamic and engaging.

Can you share a memorable achievement or project?

The completion of full audits for two projects, The Canvas Condos and The West Beach, presented unique challenges, each requiring careful attention and collaboration. Throughout the process, the Customer Care team worked diligently to address and resolve two conciliations. By effectively managing these issues, we were able to avoid chargeable conciliations, which could have negatively impacted our records and remained on file for 10 years. The experience highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, and proactive problem-solving, ensuring that we could maintain a positive track record and continue delivering high-quality developments to our clients and residents.

What are you most excited to work on in the coming months?

Currently almost nearing completion of The Stockyards technical audit and starting The Tailor Condos audit.  I'm most excited to work on expanding our audit processes and refining our approach to identifying and addressing potential issues early on. As our projects grow in scale and complexity, I’m eager to collaborate even more closely with our great team to implement more efficient and innovative solutions for common challenges that arise.  I’m motivated by the opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of our developments, ensuring that each project stands the test of time, and that we continue to maintain a stellar reputation in the industry.
