Hi Matthew! Talk to us about your role and your team. What are you responsible for and how do you collaborate with other teams? What do you enjoy most about your role?

In my role as Vice President, Finance, I provide oversight over the finance and accounting functions at Baz Group. I work regularly with the talented individuals in our platform businesses in a collaborative effort to provide accurate and timely group-level reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. What I enjoy most about the role is working alongside our highly skilled and competent team everyday to drive growth.

Can you share a memorable achievement?

My most memorable project is by far the investments made in our systems. Through a series of large-scale upgrades, we have improved our accounting information system to better serve our needs. We worked alongside our internal IT team, external consultants, and various users of our systems over a long period to execute many improvements. Being able to see the fruits of our labour with improved reporting, workflows, and automation has been highly rewarding.

What are you most excited to work on in the coming months?

I am most excited to work on our forecasts! I have invested a lot in developing our Excel models. In typical accountant fashion, I find a good Excel spreadsheet exciting.
