Today we caught up with Lois Cormack, CEO, Director and Partner, of Spring Living Retirement Communities to hear about all that’s been going on in the company.

Since its inception in 2021, Spring Living has had tremendous growth, executing on it strategy of successfully acquiring and repositioning mid market, quality retirement residences. In the past 3 years Spring Living has acquired 19 retirement residences in large urban centres in Ontario (GTA and Ottawa) and Quebec (Greater Montreal area).

The most recent acquisition in July 2024 included seven high-quality retirement residences located in Ottawa and Montreal, containing more that 1,230 suites. These residences provide independent living, assisted living and memory care. Additionally, it is has acquired assets and retained employees from Horizon Retirement Management Inc. to facilitate the Spring Living Management Group in providing management services to the acquired retirement residences that are located in Quebec.

The Spring Living value add strategy includes repositioning each residence to serve and meet the  unique needs of the community it serves, improving the operations, management, sales and marketing and investing in strategic capital improvements.    

In each acquired residence, a range of care and services are added by expanding a la carte service offerings and by converting units and training staff to provide dedicated assisted living and memory care to meet the local demand.   

Over 1,200 Horizon and Spring Living team members are passionate about making a positive impact and improving the quality of life for all residents who chose one of our residences. Every month many team members are recognized by their colleagues and leadership teams for making a positive impact and for their years of service in their residence

Improvements and renovations to suites and common areas (lobbies, dining rooms, lounges) are ongoing across the portfolio to provide residents with renovated suites and modern, updated designs.
